A big THANK YOU and update for Streetcar Park projects

As the growing season comes to a close, the Streetcar Park Improvement Team would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming community donations this past year. Your generosity has helped us raise $11,500 of our 2025 goal for additional plantings around the picnic area and an in-ground slide at the park. These additions will be completed in 2026, thanks to all our donors.

We would also like to thank The City of Mahtomedi, Mahtomedi City Public Works Department, Mahtomedi Parks Commission, Lake Links Association, Wolgamot Lake Links Trail Enhancement Fund, Mahtomedi Garden Club, Wildwood Lions Club, Rice Creek Watershed District, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Meridian, The Community Hub ( Dellwood, Grant, Mahtomedi, Willernie Facebook group), Tree and Table LLC, Prairie Restoration, Rudy Rack and all the many private donations from around the community.

Interest in Streetcar Park greatly expanded when the Lake Links Trail project got funding from the state of Minnesota in 2018 and constructed the Mahtomedi segment through the park in 2019. The donated covered bridge (constructed in 2019) also provided a unique trail feature. Trail lighting for the segment (funded by a state grant) was installed in 2022. All these features have greatly increased the number of folks enjoying the park itself, as well as added more walking and bike traffic.

Volunteers have joined in with over 3093 volunteer hours at Streetcar Parks since 2024. Thank you to all who have given your time and helped plant over 40 trees and shrubs, remove garlic mustard and buckthorn invasive plants, spreading woodchips, and planting over 1,000 native plants. Your efforts will be popping up in spring. Thanks for digging in the dirt with us. You have made Streetcar Park a wonderful place to rest, play, and gather.
