Lake Links Trail in the news 3 times this week

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

The White Bear Press has been busy reporting on various aspects of the trail development with no less than three articles this week.

One article provided a comprehensive update on the South Shore Boulevard project (now in final detail design with construction starting in spring 2022). Kimley Horn and Ramsey County are to be congratulated for gathering such effective and meaningful feedback from residents and others through virtual open houses and on-line comment maps. Utility and drainage infrastructure (thanks to Rice Creek Watershed District input) is also going to get some good upgrades in the process.

The second article described how progress on the Highway 96 segment of the trail is complicated by questions about the right of way in a few key places, incomplete historical documentation of the right of way, and a planned turn-back of the road from MnDOT to Ramsey County. A shifting of the road to the north by about 15 feet in a few short sections may be an effective design solution to making this safe for all users.

The third piece, written by Lake Links Association co-founder Steve Wolgamot, offered a historical perspective on the right-of-way issue.

Thank you to the White Bear Press for continuing to keep community members informed about the progress of the Lake Links Trail!
