A winter walk to the park

Updated: 2 days ago

More than 60 friends of Lake Links from Mahtomedi, Birchwood, Dellwood, White Bear Lake and beyond gathered at the Mahtomedi District Education Center last Friday for the Lake Links Association's 3rd annual Winter Walk.

After viewing displays about Lake Links Trail progress, Washington County road improvement plans, and Mahtomedi Garden Club contributions to the community, participants took a stroll along the lighted Wolgamot Way portion of the trail to Streetcar Park – earning candy along the way by pushing the buttons for the RRFB at the Quail St. crossing. At the luminaria-lit park, all were treated to a history scavenger hunt, updates from park improvement volunteers, a bonfire, and opportunities to have photos taken with a streetcar cutout and the park's famous covered bridge. Returning to the DEC, walkers warmed up with cider and cookies. Those who participated in the scavenger hunt received a high-visibility safety vests for future enjoyment of the outdoors after dark.
