The Minnesota Legislature approved $3.6 million for the remaining trail sections of Dellwood , White Bear Township and White bear Lake .
Trail elements in the northern part of Mahtomedi are completed, including connections from Maple to Neptune, an electronic signaled crosswalk at Neptune, and other trail elements in Streetcar Park and on the Burlington Northern Trail. See pictures here.
The covered bridge in Streetcar Park in northern Mahtomedi (just off Briarwood) is complete and dedicated.
Construction for 1/3 mile of curb-separated shared pathway along Birchwood Road is in progress with safety striping, removal of obstacles and signage remaining. It is open for traffic on foot and bike so take care until everything is complete.
Ramsey County has an RFP out to contractors interested in providing final design of the South Shore Boulevard elements of the trail. Proposals are due March 11, 2021. Ramsey County hope to have proposals evaluated, and the selected firm starting work by April 1st. An open house will be held to review detailed design elements in summer/fall 2021. Ramsey County are still on track to bid the construction in late winter/early spring 2022 and have the project completed in its entirety by fall of 2022. County Road F resurfacing will take place during the latter half of summer (2021) as the township wants to do some watermain work ahead of the pavement project. The County Road F sidewalk project (from McKnight to Gisella) will be built in 2022

Saputo Station, a bicycle rest stop and picnic pavilion named for local dairy food processor Saputo will be erected in Bellaire Beach Park in Summer 2021. Saputo’s donation of $25,000 to Lake Links through its Legacy Community Program will be used to cover the cost of building. White Bear Township has created a site plan. Mahtomedi architect Brian Gatzlaff will oversee construction. Rotary International’s White Bear Chapter will provide most of the volunteer help to construct.
Preliminary engineering analysis along Highway 96 on the north side of White Bear Lake considering trail alignment and improved safety at key intersections was completed in 2019. Historical evidence of enhanced right-of-way along the highway is circulating. MnDOT, the City of White Bear Lake, White Bear Township, Ramsey County and Met Council are working to implement trail segment by 2022.
