Trail closure and detour in Birchwood Oct. 27 – Nov. 7

The Lake Links Trail and Birchwood Road will be closed to all traffic at Birchwood Road Monday, Oct 27, through Friday, Nov 7 for the installation of a new culvert and associated utility work.

This work is to reduce flooding issues along Birchwood Road. For your safety, please stay away from the construction zone and use the detour suggested.

The suggested trail detour adds about 1.2 miles and uses the following:

At the east end of South Shore Blvd.:

1) Go south on E County Line Rd. (limited shoulder)

2) Go east on N Riviera Dr. and Wedgewood Dr. (quiet residential streets) to Hwy. 12

3) Use stoplight stoplight-controlled pedestrian crossing at Hwy. 12

4) Go east on shared use paths along the south side of Hwy. 12

5) Go east on Old Wildwood Rd. (bike-walk lane and sharrows; one way for vehicles)

6) Go north on shared use path along Lincolntown to Hwy 12

7) Use marked pedestrian crossing of Hwy 12 with median refuge

8) Resume normal route along Wildwood Beach Rd.
