Meet Emily Wendlandt

Meet Emily Wendlandt. Emily lives on Highway 244, just south of Lake Avenue / Highway 96, in beautiful Dellwood.

Every day, she walks her beloved dogs. But she has a name for their daily outing: “The walk of danger.”

Why?

Because there really isn't a safe place for Emily to walk near her home.

Her choices are to walk along Highway 244, where the road and traffic can make the experience uncomfortable and unsafe, or get into her car and drive somewhere else just to take her dogs for a walk.

That doesn't seem right.

One of the wonderful things about living in Dellwood is being able to enjoy the beauty of our community right outside our doors. We should be able to walk, bike and enjoy our neighborhoods without feeling like we have to get in a car first.

Highway 244 is in need of attention, and this isn't simply about having a smoother road. It's about making the road safer and more welcoming for the people who live along it and use it every day.

Emily's story is a simple reminder that roads aren't just for cars. They're part of our neighborhoods, too.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Emily could walk out her front door, leash up her dogs, and enjoy a safe walk through her own neighborhood?

That's the kind of community I think we all want to live in.
