Streetcar Park In-Ground Slide Project

The enhancements to Streetcar Park in 2024 have included trailhead kiosk, bike racks, portapotti and picnic tables which meet the needs of all ages. Streetcar Park is the halfway point around the lake.  The park offers a great place for everyone to rest, gather and play.  The covered bridge, stream, log bridges and natural play area are also proving to be a fun area for kids.  Streetcar Park lacks a signature play element for the kids.

This slide would be located next to the picnic area on the embankment leading down west towards the stream and 2 crossing logs. It would have fun natural steps to go back up, plus mulch and gravel areas around it to preserve the soils. It would be away from trail traffic and also within close supervision by parents at the picnic area. Here is an example and the proposed installation.

The in-ground slide would be supplied by an established manufacturer of in-ground slides with all the required Consumer Product Safety Commission components and design criteria. It would cost approximately $4,800 including peripherals of mulch, top platform, landing zone etc. Installation of the slide and steps would be done by volunteers and city employees.
