More than 80 people showed up at Bellaire Beach Park on the south shore of White Bear Lake yesterday morning to participate in the Lake Links Association's 8th annual guided bike ride around White Bear Lake. The route followed the route of the Lake Links Trail, which is nearing 80% completion this summer.

This year's event included a first-ever "History Mystery" tour led by Lake Links board member Ian Harding. The group of 10 stopped at six sites along the 10-mile loop to learn about Native American burial mounds, boat-building, rail travel to and from the area, the Wildwood Amusement Park, and other highlights of years gone by. The tour lasted just over two hours and included plenty of good discussion and questions. Check out some of the information covered in the Local History section of our Resources page!

In addition, community volunteer Cindy Rasmussen shared the story of the grassroots revitalization of Streetcar Park, a family-friendly feature along the Lake Links Trail in Mahtomedi. Cindy described how a collaboration among local residents, the City of Mahtomedi, and the Lake Links Association has made the park a top destination along the trail. She also described goals for further improvement in the year ahead.
